Amnesty International has called for an immediate halt to executions in Iran.
The organization announced that over 1,000 executions have been reported since the beginning of 2025 organization reported that executions in Iran are carried out after unfair trials aimed at suppressing protests and minorities.
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has also warned about the sharp increase in executions.
According to reports, most executions last year were for drug-related offenses, but protesters and people connected to the 2022 protests were also executed.
At least 31 women were executed in 2024, marking the highest number in 15 years.
