According to Afghan journalist Bilal Sarwari, a local Taliban member has been arrested on charges of converting to Christianity and promoting it. The individual, named Malik Mazloom, a resident of Goshta district, has confessed to converting to Christianity.

He was arrested after the Taliban’s purification commission issued a form to purify his 14-year jihadist record. During this process, Malik Mazloom confessed to his alleged crime and is now in custody.

This arrest comes as the Taliban group implements strict policies regarding religious matters and has banned any activities that contradict their interpretation of Islam. The incident highlights the group’s continued enforcement of rigid religious guidelines in Afghanistan.
