One week after the disruption of imported electricity transmission lines from Uzbekistan, the Taliban has failed to fully restore power supply.

The 220-kilovolt transmission lines were damaged at the border section, with power cables falling into the Amu River.

This power outage has affected 13 provinces, with significant electricity reductions in Samangan, Baghlan, Parwan, Kapisa, Panjshir, and Kabul provinces.

Additionally, electricity in Nangarhar, Laghman, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Logar, Paktia, and Khost provinces is being distributed at less than half of normal capacity.

BRESHNA company announced that repair work continues, but residents from many provinces have complained about severe power shortages.

Afghanistan imports more than 75 percent of its electricity needs from neighboring countries, particularly Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
