Nai in Exile organization revealed in its latest assessment that the Taliban group has transformed media outlets into propaganda tools through targeted misuse rather than direct violence .
The group imposes its promotional content on private television stations, radios, and news agencies, using them like state media outlets.
According to the report, some private media outlets go beyond official Taliban media in promoting the group, driven by fear, flattery, financial interests, and ethnic motivations.
Currently, no content is published without Taliban approval, and any material opposing the group’s interests is banned.
The Taliban has even dictated how media should address their officials, requiring specific titles like “Hafizullah” for their leader, “Khalifa” for commanders, and “Shahid” for the group’s casualties. Nai in Exile warned that if the situation continues, the legitimacy of private media in people’s minds will be severely undermined during the post-Taliban era.
