Donald Trump, US President, met with Sanae Takaichi, Japan’s first female Prime Minister, on Tuesday, October 27th in Tokyo.

The meeting focused on trade relations, security cooperation, and increasing Japan’s military spending.


Takaichi unveiled a $550 billion investment package including joint shipbuilding projects and increased imports of soybeans, natural gas, and pickup trucks from America.

She also announced plans to nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, a long-held desire of the former president.
Both leaders signed a framework agreement for securing critical and rare minerals through extraction and processing. Takaichi promised to increase her country’s defense budget to two percent of GDP. Trump will continue his Asian tour to South Korea, where he plans to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
