The Taliban’s Statistics and Information Department announced that it has sent technical teams to the Iranian cities of Zahedan and Mashhad to verify the identities of Afghan migrants.

The department stated in a newsletter on Thursday, October 29th, that three-year identity cards will be distributed to Afghan migrants in Iran after identity verification.

According to this announcement, the distribution of these cards will resolve educational problems and passport acquisition issues for Afghan migrants.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is expected to issue residence documents to Afghan migrants based on these identity cards.

Mohammad Nabi Nosrat, Deputy of Civil Registration of the Taliban’s Statistics Department, had previously traveled to Iran to resolve identity problems of Afghan migrants.

The second and third generations of Afghan migrants born in Iran have neither Iranian nor Afghan identity documents.

This identity problem has created numerous difficulties for them in education, employment, and daily life.

The Taliban’s Statistics Department announced that identity verification working teams will also be sent to Tehran soon.
