Afghanistan’s electricity company Breshna, under Taliban control, announced on Monday, November 3rd that imported electricity from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan was cut off following last night’s earthquake.

The company stated that imported power lines were severed during the earthquake and technical teams are working to reconnect the electricity supply.
According to the information provided, the disruption of these lines has cut electricity to the provinces of Kabul, Baghlan, Parwan, Panjshir, Kapisa, Logar, Paktia, Ghazni, and Maidan Wardak.

Due to low domestic electricity production levels, Afghanistan depends on energy resources from neighboring countries.

Most of Afghanistan’s electricity is imported, with more than 75 percent of the required electricity imported from neighboring countries, particularly Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

The frequent disruption of imported power lines from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan to Afghanistan has become a serious concern for the government and people of this country
