Hamid Karzai, former President of Afghanistan, wrote on his X page: “I express my deep condolences for the loss of life and property damage caused by the earthquake in Balkh, Samangan and other provinces, and express my condolences and sympathy to the families of the martyrs.”
The 6.3 magnitude earthquake that struck northern Afghanistan early Monday morning left more than 20 dead and 320 injured.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers underground near Mazar-i-Sharif city, and its tremors were felt in Kabul and the provinces of Takhar, Kunduz, Faryab and Sar-e-Pol.
Hamid Karzai has called on national and international institutions and national traders to help the affected families.
This message of sympathy was sent while the Kabul-Mazar-i-Sharif highway in the Tangi Tashqurghan area was blocked due to landslides.
