Zalmay Khalilzad, former US Ambassador to Afghanistan, expressed deep sorrow over the earthquake that struck northern Afghanistan’s Balkh and Samangan provinces.


In a post on social media platform X, he stated that many people have lost their lives and many more have been injured.

Khalilzad also expressed concern about reports that the historic and wonderful shrine in Mazar-i-Sharif may have been damaged by the quake.
The 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck in the early hours of Monday, November 3rd, killing at least 20 people and injuring hundreds more in the affected regions.
