Pakistan’s army on Monday attributed current tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan to the absence of a legitimate government in Kabul.
The Pakistani army spokesperson stated that resolving Afghanistan-related issues is only possible when an elected government representing the people is in power.
Mr. Chaudhry referenced the Doha agreement between the Taliban group and America, noting that the Taliban had promised to hold a Loya Jirga and form an elected government, but this promise remains unfulfilled.
He emphasized that Islamabad seeks a political solution to existing tensions with the Taliban administration.
The Pakistani armed forces spokesperson said that conditions set by Afghanistan are irrelevant, and what matters to Pakistan is ending terrorism.
He also announced that if negotiations fail, other options will be considered. The Taliban and Pakistani government have held talks in Doha and Istanbul following October border clashes to establish ceasefire mechanisms.
