French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot expressed support for Lebanon’s government and president while emphasizing the necessity of Hezbollah’s disarmament and Israeli withdrawal from disputed areas between the two countries.
On Monday, November 3rd, he told Al Arabiya that Paris supports full implementation of the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel.
Barrot also stressed that Lebanon’s government must continue economic reforms to regain international community’s trust and financial support.
France announced readiness to host an international conference for Lebanon’s reconstruction and recovery efforts.
Meanwhile, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stated his country has no option but to rely on negotiations to resolve the crisis.
During meetings at Baabda Palace, he said when war yields no results, dialogue remains the only path forward. An Israeli official told Al Arabiya that Hezbollah is rebuilding its military capabilities and has smuggled hundreds of short-range missiles from Syria.
