Two sources have confirmed to Amu that the Taliban negotiating team, led by Abdul Haq Wasiq, their intelligence chief, is scheduled to depart for Turkey today, Wednesday, November 5th, to begin the next round of negotiations with Pakistan.

Zabihullah Mujahid, Taliban spokesperson, has also confirmed this matter to the national television under their administration.

According to reports, the leadership of the Pakistani delegation in these negotiations will be undertaken by Asim Malik, head of the country’s intelligence agency or ISI.

The third round of negotiations between the Taliban and Pakistan in Istanbul, Turkey, is scheduled to begin tomorrow, Thursday, November 6th.

This comes while the second round of negotiations between the two sides, which lasted six days, ended without any clear results.

A senior Taliban official who wished to remain anonymous told Amu that one clause in the agreement between the Taliban and Pakistan in the second round of negotiations in Turkey became controversial, which was preventing the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan from operating on Pakistani soil. Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry, spokesperson for the Pakistani army, emphasized that Pakistan’s demand to end terrorism from Afghan soil is non-negotiable.
