A UPS cargo plane crashed and caught fire on Tuesday shortly after takeoff from Louisville International Airport in Kentucky, USA.
The incident resulted in at least seven deaths and eleven injuries.
The aircraft, which was bound for Honolulu, Hawaii, had only three crew members aboard, all of whom perished.
The flames from the crash triggered several chain fires in the industrial area adjacent to the airport.
Authorities asked residents within a five-mile radius to stay indoors to avoid air pollution hazards.
The aircraft was carrying 144,000 liters of fuel.
According to preliminary investigations, it appears that one of the aircraft’s engines separated from the fuselage before the crash.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
The aircraft had three engines, and experts say investigations must examine why the plane couldn’t continue flying with the two remaining engines.
