Zabihullah Mujahid, Taliban spokesman, issued a statement thanking Turkey and Qatar as “brotherly” countries for hosting and mediating recent talks between Afghanistan and Pakistan in Istanbul .

The Taliban delegation, under special guidance from the Taliban leader, participated in these discussions on November 6-7, hoping the Pakistani side would participate with a responsible spirit and constructive intent to fundamentally resolve problems.

According to Mujahid, the Pakistani delegation attempted to transfer all security responsibilities to the Afghan government while refusing to accept responsibility for Afghanistan’s security or even their own internal security .

The irresponsible approach and lack of cooperation from the Pakistani delegation caused the talks to reach no conclusion despite the Taliban’s good intentions and mediators’ efforts.

The Taliban spokesman emphasized that Afghanistan will not allow any country to use its territory against the country’s independence and security,

stating that defending the Afghan people and territory is the Taliban’s religious and national duty, and they will decisively defend against any aggression. The talks’ failure raises concerns about renewed border tensions between the neighboring countries.
