Nizamuddin Qaisari, the self-proclaimed head of Afghanistan’s National Islamic Movement party who resides in Iran, told Afghanistan Future media that his selection as party leader was made at the people’s request.
He accused Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum, the former party leader, of negligence and failure in defending the interests of Uzbek people.
Qaisari added that no consultation took place with Marshal Dostum on this matter, nor was consultation necessary, as the people should decide who leads the party.
According to Qaisari, Marshal Dostum’s performance in recent years has failed to benefit Afghanistan’s Uzbek community, prompting people to suggest he take over party leadership.
So far, Marshal Dostum and senior members of Afghanistan’s National Islamic Movement party have not officially responded to these claims and Qaisari’s leadership announcement.
Qaisari was previously a local commander in Faryab province and considered close to Dostum before this development.
