The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that the 2025 drought impacted over 3.4 million Afghans in the northern and western provinces. This harsh environmental disaster severely damaged the local agriculture and livestock sectors.

According to the organization, the consequences of this severe drought have endangered the daily livelihoods of many families. Humanitarian partners are currently distributing urgent food assistance to the affected populations, but they emphasize that much more immediate support is required.

Meanwhile, the World Food Programme noted a significant surge in food prices, with essential items costing up to 47 percent more than the previous year. This rapid inflation, combined with ongoing instability, has drastically worsened the living conditions for ordinary citizens.
