The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) announced the opening of digital centers in schools in Estalif and Musahi districts of Kabul province.
These centers are equipped with computers, trained teachers, specialized curricula, and internet access, aimed at providing better educational opportunities for students, especially young girls.
The electricity needed for these schools is supplied by solar energy through the “Sustainable Energy Services for Education and Health in Afghanistan” project.
This initiative comes while thousands of female students have been deprived of attending schools over the past four years since the Taliban’s return to power.
UNICEF had previously announced that Afghanistan’s education system faces an unprecedented crisis, with millions of children, particularly girls, being denied access to education.
