At least 8,000 Afghan migrants were deported on Thursday, November 13, from Pakistan and Iran as part of ongoing mass deportations.
According to the Taliban commission for refugee affairs, these individuals were returned through four border crossings including Torkham and Spin Boldak on the Pakistan border, and Islam Qala and Silk Road crossing on the Iranian border.
Statistics show that 2,509 people from 446 families were deported through Torkham, while 4,203 people from 820 families returned via Spin Boldak in Kandahar province. From Iran, 209 people crossed through Islam Qala in Herat, and over 1,500 others entered through the Silk Road crossing in Nimroz province.
These deportations continue the massive wave of forced returns from Pakistan. Official figures indicate that over 20,000 migrants were also deported on November 11-12. Pakistan’s government had set a November 1 deadline for migrants to leave the country or face detention and deportation.
