US President Donald Trump announced that Saudi Arabia may “soon” join the Abraham Accords. He stated that interest in the normalization process has been “extraordinary” in recent months and plans to discuss the Abraham Accords with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during an upcoming White House meeting.
This meeting is scheduled for late November and is expected to include the signing of several economic and defense agreements between the two countries.
Trump also mentioned he is considering approval of a major deal to sell F-35 stealth fighters to Saudi Arabia.
The UAE and Bahrain signed these agreements in 2020 during Trump’s first presidency, followed by Morocco and Sudan.
Trump emphasized that since the joint US-Israeli attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities in June, countries’ interest in joining the Abraham Accords has increased.
