The Secretary-General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization announced that the first shipments of weapons and equipment to strengthen the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border will be delivered to Dushanbe this autumn. Russia is leading the supply effort.
Member states have agreed on a list of lethal and non-lethal equipment needed by Tajikistan. The Secretary-General stressed that any security problem in this region could affect all member countries of the organization.
Afghanistan's Badakhshan province has seen increased armed clashes in recent months. Since late 2025, several attacks from Afghan territory into Tajikistan have occurred, resulting in civilian and border guard casualties.
