On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (November 25), Afghan women’s rights activist Diba Farahmand reported being beaten by Pakistani police.
In an exclusive video, she showed visible injuries above her eye, stating she fled Taliban violence only to face new abuse in Pakistan.
Around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Pakistani police forcibly removed over 200 Afghan refugee families from Argentina Park in Islamabad, transferring them to Haji Camp without allowing them to gather their belongings. Diba Farahmand was among those injured, suffering a head wound.
So far, Pakistani police have not commented on the incident.
This event, coinciding with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, has drawn human rights activists’ attention to the plight of Afghan refugees.
