Zalmay Khalilzad, former US envoy for Afghan peace, condemned Pakistan’s recent attacks on Khost, Kunar, and Paktika provinces, stating that killing civilians is not the answer to Afghanistan-Pakistan disputes.

In his post on X, Khalilzad reported that 9 children and a woman were killed in Mughalghi, Khost, and four civilians were injured in Kunar and Paktika.
He stressed that patient and realistic diplomacy is a better path forward and welcomed Turkey’s initiative to establish a joint monitoring center between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Khalilzad suggested this center could be based in Ankara, involving officials from Turkey, Qatar, Afghanistan, and Pakistan to prevent the use of each country’s territory against the other.

Khalilzad called on both countries to cooperate with this plan and offered condolences to the victims’ families. The attacks have sparked widespread regional and international reactions.
