The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, led by Ahmad Massoud, condemned the terrorist attack near the White House, stating that the suspect, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, has direct ties to the Taliban and affiliated terrorist networks.
The Front warned that the Taliban have increased security threats by sending their affiliates to the West and even providing Afghan passports to thousands of foreign fighters.
The statement emphasized that this attack is only a small part of the threats, and continued Taliban rule could expose the world to greater dangers. The National Resistance Front expressed their thoughts and prayers for the families of the victims.
According to CNN, two West Virginia National Guard soldiers were shot just steps from the White House and remain in critical condition.
Authorities described the incident as a targeted attack, and the suspect, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, entered the U.S. in 2021 under the Operation Allies Welcome program.
