Adiba Erfan, an Afghan Bachelor of Science student at the University of Melbourne, received the prestigious 2025 Victorian Premier’s Award for International Student of the Year and the International Student of the Year in English Language Training. After completing English studies at Hawthorn Melbourne, Adiba is now pursuing Neuroscience and founded the Pink Education Foundation to support education and health for Afghan girls.

Adiba accepted the awards on behalf of 2.5 million Afghan girls banned from secondary and tertiary education since 2021, carrying this responsibility with her whole heart. Her work represents hope and a voice for Afghan women facing educational restrictions under the Taliban group.

The ongoing crisis in girls’ education in Afghanistan and widespread Afghan support for girls’ rights highlight the importance of Adiba’s advocacy.
