On the occasion of the International Campaign for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the European Union has once again emphasized the right to education for Afghan girls. The EU stated that providing education for all, without gender discrimination, is key to reducing vulnerability and building a sustainable future.
In a note posted on X on Saturday, November 29, the EU said ensuring the right to education for Afghan women and girls helps create a society free from harm and violence.
Since the Taliban group’s return to power, girls in Afghanistan have been banned from attending school above grade six. Despite repeated calls from citizens and the international community over the past four years, the Taliban have not changed their decision.
