Alphabet’s Google has withdrawn its antitrust complaint against Microsoft’s cloud computing practices in the European Union, following the launch of an EU investigation into Microsoft’s market power in cloud services.

The original complaint alleged that Microsoft locked customers into its Azure platform.

Amazon leads the cloud market with a 30% share, followed by Microsoft at 20% and Google at 13%.

Google stated it will continue working with policymakers and regulators to promote openness and choice in the cloud sector.

The EU probe may designate Microsoft and Amazon as gatekeepers under the Digital Markets Act, imposing rules to foster competition and provide users with more options.
