The Taliban Ministry of Education has officially eliminated hundreds of job positions across several provinces, leaving many educators unemployed.
Reports indicate that the cuts have primarily targeted Bamyan, Daikundi, Panjshir, and Ghazni, affecting both administrative staff and teachers in these regions.
Sources reveal that in Panjshir alone, around 100 positions related to girls’ schools have been removed from the structure.
Similarly, in Bamyan and Daikundi, hundreds of teaching and service roles have been slashed, raising alarm about the future of local education and the livelihoods of civil servants.
While the Taliban cites budget reductions as the primary reason for these cuts, the move further weakens an already fragile school system. This comes as secondary schools for Afghan girls remain closed under the group’s restrictive policies, compounding the crisis in the education sector.
