The Taliban’s Supreme Court has announced the public flogging of four individuals, including two women, in Jawzjan and Balkh provinces.
The accused were punished for alleged crimes such as “running away from home,” adultery, and consuming alcohol.
According to the statement, the individuals received between 15 and 39 lashes in front of local officials and the public.
Some were also sentenced to prison terms, signaling a continued enforcement of strict corporal punishment by the current administration.
International human rights organizations and the UN have repeatedly condemned these actions as cruel and degrading.
Despite global criticism, reports indicate a rise in public punishments across Afghanistan in recent months.
