Zawia News has obtained documents exposing widespread financial corruption within the central prison of Kunar province.
The report details how prison officials are systematically stealing fuel allocated for generators and embezzling funds meant for prisoner food.
Records indicate that while fuel is logged for 18 hours, generators run for only 7, with the rest being siphoned off.
Furthermore, out of a 2.5 million Afghani budget, only 600,000 has been spent on the facility, with the rest missing.
Intelligence and food supply officers are allegedly complicit in the scheme. Evidence suggests that stolen funds have been diverted to purchase luxury furniture for officials, while prisoners suffer from reduced resources.
