Afghan cricket superstar Rashid Khan has revealed that despite Taliban claims of total security, he cannot travel safely in Afghanistan without an armored vehicle.
Speaking to British media, Khan stated that the unpredictable security situation forces him to take extreme precautions whenever he visits his home country.
Currently residing in Dubai, the national team captain explained, “It is impossible for me to go out in a normal car.
My car is always locked because people often try to open the doors.” He emphasized that these measures are essential for his safety, as he could easily end up in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Khan’s comments contradict the Taliban’s narrative that Afghanistan is safe for everyone, including tourists. The cricketer has previously faced criticism for his apparent close ties with Taliban leaders, including Sirajuddin Haqqani, but his latest remarks highlight the underlying security concerns even for high-profile figures.
