Iranian journalist Mohammad Hossein Jafarian has strongly criticized the assassination of General Ekramuddin Saree in Tehran, calling it “bitter and shameful.
” In a sharp note, he argued that those advocating for engagement with the Taliban must be held accountable, as Taliban-linked assassinations have now reached the heart of the Iranian capital.
Referencing the deaths of other anti-Taliban commanders, Jafarian warned that the policy of appeasement carries dangerous consequences.
He remarked, “It is not just Netanyahu who assassinates in Tehran; now Mullah Hibatullah does the same,” viewing the incident as a sign of the Taliban’s growing boldness and reach.
A known supporter of the resistance front, Jafarian has frequently warned against Tehran’s close ties with the Taliban.
Widespread reactions on social media reflect growing public anxiety regarding the safety of Afghan refugees and former military personnel living in Iran.
