Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Taliban’s Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, announced a five-year tax exemption for any investor building cold storage facilities in Afghanistan.

Speaking in Herat, he stated the initiative aims to support domestic production and reduce agricultural waste.

Baradar emphasized that the national power utility, Breshna, has been ordered to prioritize electricity supply for these projects under all circumstances.

He argued that establishing proper storage infrastructure is vital for boosting the country’s economy and increasing agricultural exports.

Calling on both domestic and foreign businessmen to seize this opportunity, Baradar highlighted the potential for job creation and economic development.

The move is part of a broader strategy to encourage private sector investment in Afghanistan’s critical infrastructure.
