Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada has ordered the distribution of state reserves to assist refugees forcibly deported from Iran and Pakistan. Deputy spokesman Hamdullah Fitrat announced that the aid package includes wheat and cash for vulnerable returning families.
The directive was issued during a meeting with the High Commission for Refugees in Kandahar. Additionally, the Red Crescent and disaster management agencies have been instructed to prepare winter relief packages for the returnees.
With the harsh winter approaching and mass deportations continuing, the humanitarian situation is dire. This move by the Taliban leadership aims to mitigate the crisis facing thousands of families returning to Afghanistan with little to no resources.
