Former Balochistan minister Jan Achakzai has strongly condemned the Taliban for destroying large quantities of medical supplies.
He labeled the burning of medicine a crime, particularly as millions of Afghans suffer from untreated illnesses.
The Taliban reportedly incinerated over 2,350 cartons of medicine in Spin Boldak under anti-smuggling measures.
This destruction was overseen by customs officials in Kandahar province as part of a crackdown.
Achakzai argued this is not law enforcement but cruelty, noting that many Afghans struggle to afford even a single meal.
Destroying lifesaving drugs exacerbates the dire humanitarian and health crisis facing the country.
