The UN Security Council has issued a strong condemnation of the recent “cowardly” terrorist attacks in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, orchestrated by the Balochistan Liberation Army . In a statement released Tuesday, the Council labeled terrorism as one of the most serious threats to international peace and urged global cooperation to hold perpetrators and financiers accountable.
The coordinated assaults, which took place on January 31, resulted in the deaths of 48 people, including 31 civilians. Pakistani officials reported that security forces responded with operations that killed approximately 177 separatist fighters. The Council emphasized that all nations must collaborate with the Pakistani government under international law to combat these threats.
Highlighting the severity of the situation, the Security Council reiterated that any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable. They called on all states to combat threats to global security caused by terrorist acts, ensuring justice for the victims of the violence in Balochistan.
