US police reported that a shooting near a bar in Texas has left three people dead and 14 others injured on Sunday. The suspect, identified as 53-year-old Nadiaga Dian, was killed during an exchange of gunfire with law enforcement officers at the scene.
Sources state that the gunman was wearing a vest featuring the phrase “Belonging to Allah” and an Iranian flag patch during the attack. The suspect, a Senegalese national who had acquired US citizenship in 2006, reportedly cased the area before opening fire on bystanders from his vehicle and then on foot.
The FBI is currently investigating the shooting as a potential terrorist act. Police officials in Austin confirmed that the gunman stopped his car after the initial shots and proceeded to target pedestrians with a rifle before being neutralized.
