Donald Trump has admitted for the first time to a personal motive behind ordering the strike on Iran. The Washington Post reports that Trump cited Iran’s attempts to assassinate him in 2024 as a key factor in his decision to target Ali Khamenei.
The joint US-Israel attacks, which resulted in the death of the Iranian leader, have entered their fifth day. Trump described the operation as a direct response to life-threatening plots against him.
The strikes have eliminated numerous top military commanders and targeted nuclear infrastructure. In retaliation, Iran has launched missile attacks on US bases across the Gulf region.
