The UNHCR announced that Japan has contributed two million dollars to support Afghan returnees and vulnerable host communities inside Afghanistan.
Afghanistan faces a severe humanitarian crisis, with over 2.8 million migrants returning from neighboring countries in 2025 alone. The situation has worsened due to two major earthquakes and increasing operational restrictions on aid delivery.
The funding will run for ten months from March to December 2026, supporting 116,310 people in migrant camps, prioritizing female-headed households and vulnerable individuals.
