The BBC has confirmed that it visited the Omid drug rehabilitation center in Kabul, where parts of the facility were still burning. The British media outlet reported seeing more than 30 bodies being transported on stretchers. Kabul residents reported hearing fighter jets and two massive explosions around 8:50 PM local time.
Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson for the Taliban government, said Pakistan targeted the Omid rehabilitation clinic, resulting in at least 400 deaths and 250 injuries. Approximately 2,000 people were undergoing treatment at the center. Pakistan has denied attacking any medical facility.
The UN office in Kabul has not yet released any report on the incident. Human rights activists are calling for investigations by independent and impartial international bodies to reveal the truth behind this tragedy.
