The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime told Afghanistan International that it did not support Omid Hospital, which was destroyed in Pakistan's airstrike. Ghada Waly, the organization's representative in Afghanistan, said the reason for non-support was that Omid Hospital was under the control of the Taliban's Interior Ministry.
Mr. Waly said the UN Office on Drugs and Crime believes that addiction treatment centers should be managed by the Ministry of Public Health and the addiction treatment process should be voluntary and without coercion or pressure.
In Monday night's Pakistani attacks on Kabul and Nangarhar, at least three bombs hit the Omid addiction treatment center in eastern Kabul. The Taliban government said 400 people were killed in the incident and 250 others were injured.
