Truck drivers operating on the Herat-Kabul highway have strongly criticized the unprecedented increase in toll fees. They argue that this sudden hike has created massive economic challenges for their daily transportation businesses.

According to the drivers, the Taliban government has doubled the transit fee from 4,000 to 8,000 Afghanis. This substantial amount is being collected at four different checkpoints, including Lashkargah, Ghazni, Kandahar, and the capital city.

The protesting drivers emphasize that despite paying these heavy fees, they receive absolutely no basic services along the deteriorated highways. They are urgently calling for a reduction in tolls and the provision of better transportation facilities.
