The United Nations Security Council failed to adopt a draft resolution aimed at guaranteeing freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Despite receiving a majority of affirmative votes, the proposal was blocked due to vetoes cast by Russia and China.

According to the voting results, the draft resolution secured eleven votes in favor, but the two permanent members used their veto power to prevent its passage. Additionally, Colombia and Pakistan abstained from voting during the session, contributing to the resolution's failure.

The resolution, drafted by Bahrain, encouraged countries to coordinate defensive measures to ensure the safety of international shipping routes. Following the vote, Bahrain's foreign minister expressed deep regret over the Security Council's failure to take responsibility for maritime security.
