The International Committee of the Red Cross has announced that over fourteen million Afghans will need humanitarian aid and health services this year. This warning comes as decades of conflict and economic hardships have severely strained the country's medical infrastructure.
The committee noted that despite these difficult conditions, supporting dozens of hospitals and clinics has played a vital role in providing primary care. Last year, millions of patients, mostly women and children, successfully accessed these essential medical services across the nation.
According to the Red Cross report, their support programs have strengthened the capacity of provincial hospitals and provided crucial training for health workers. These life-saving initiatives have rescued thousands of people in remote areas of Afghanistan.
