As a result of severe rainfall and recent devastating floods across various provinces in Afghanistan, at least one hundred and ten people have tragically lost their lives. Reports from the Taliban government's disaster management authority indicate that the floods have inflicted immense financial losses on local communities. Simultaneously, major national highways, including the Salang Pass and Kabul routes, have been completely closed to traffic due to heavy snow and rain.
Destructive floods in twenty-eight provinces have wiped out the livelihoods of many vulnerable Afghans. The affected residents report that their homes and tents have been destroyed, leaving them in urgent need of humanitarian assistance and food supplies for survival.
