Border security forces of Uzbekistan have announced the confiscation of over one hundred ninety kilograms of hashish near the Afghan border. The illicit drugs were professionally concealed inside a commercial cargo truck originating from Afghanistan and attempting to cross into Central Asia.
Reports indicate that smugglers had hidden the narcotics inside double-walled cooking pots to evade detection. However, during a thorough scanning process, border and customs officials identified anomalies and successfully extracted the hidden substances from hundreds of packed boxes.
The truck driver, a thirty six year old man from the Surkhandarya region, was arrested and is currently under investigation. Over the past few weeks, neighboring countries have expressed growing concerns regarding unstable security and rising drug trafficking from Afghan borders.
