Nooruddin Azizi, the Minister of Commerce for the Taliban government, has formally requested Turkey to invest in Afghanistan's pharmaceutical manufacturing sector. This proposal was made during a meeting with the Turkish Trade Minister on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
During their discussions, both officials focused on boosting bilateral trade and exploring investment opportunities in the Afghan mining and agriculture sectors. The Turkish minister also invited the Taliban government delegates to attend upcoming trade exhibitions in Turkey.
This development coincides with a recent United Nations report highlighting a severe economic crisis in Afghanistan. The country is facing a chronic trade deficit of nearly 9.5 billion dollars, while a sharp decline in international aid worsens poverty and instability.
