The United Nations has announced the commencement of crucial humanitarian aid deliveries to remote districts in Afghanistan's Nuristan province. These mountainous areas had been completely inaccessible for weeks due to intense cross-border clashes and severe insecurity.
According to a UN spokesperson, thousands of residents in Kamdesh and Barg-e-Matal districts have been critically deprived of food and basic healthcare. The emergency supplies are now being effectively coordinated and distributed through the Red Cross and the Afghan Red Crescent Society.
The successful reopening of blocked access routes has finally allowed local markets to function and critically ill patients to reach hospitals safely. However, humanitarian agencies warn that the overall need for food and essential medical services remains alarmingly high.
