Local sources report that the morality police of the Taliban government have arrested a man and his wife in western Kabul on false charges of maintaining an illegitimate relationship. The couple was detained while shopping and subsequently transferred to the third security district.
Reports indicate that the detained woman was forced to clean prison cells, while her husband was compelled to provide photographs and a written guarantee. However, the couple strongly maintains that their arrest was entirely motivated by ethnic discrimination because they belong to the Hazara community.
This incident occurs amidst growing reports of ethnic prejudice by the Taliban government across the country. Recently, a video went viral showing a Hazara patient being denied surgery and discharged from a hospital in Kandahar solely due to their ethnicity.
