Local sources report that ongoing clashes over poppy fields and local mines in Badakhshan province have left at least four people dead and thirty-two others injured.
These armed conflicts between local residents and Taliban government forces started late last week in several districts, including Argo and Khash. Local people have blocked the main connecting roads in protest.
Reports indicate that the Taliban government is currently deploying fresh troops to these turbulent areas to maintain control. Officials have not yet commented on these violent incidents.
