Amnesty International has expressed deep concern over the arbitrary arrest and forced disappearance of three journalists in the country, demanding immediate clarification of their fate. According to reports, Mansoor Niazi, Imran Danish, and Javid Niazi have been unlawfully detained by the Taliban government.
The international organization emphasized that these actions are part of a broader campaign of intimidation against media workers in Afghanistan, constituting a clear violation of international law. Amnesty International also highlighted the severe risk of torture and ill-treatment facing these detained journalists.
The organization has urged Taliban government officials to guarantee the journalists' access to legal representation and release them immediately. Currently, several journalists are languishing in Taliban government prisons without any formal or transparent charges brought against them.
